What you’re using, and what you probably should be using:
Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE), you should use mozilla firefox instead. Reasons to switch, the internet is not riddled with crap that does havoc to your browser (MSIE is a prime target for malware, adware, spyware).
Outlook, you should use mozilla thunderbird instead.
Spybot search and destroy – removes spyware.

Acrylic Mockup
I’ve moved up from Cardboard to Acrylic sheets for part mockups.
I’ve made a cardboard mockup of the part, but I couldn’t get really get any measurements off of the mockup. The cardboard kept flexing making it very difficult to position the secondary pieces to any acceptable limits. Another issue with cardboard is that it’s a soft material to measure.
Benefits of Acrylic over cardboard
1.) It’s ridged
2.) The variety I’m using is clear so I can measure bolt holes and such.
Downsides:
1.) much more expensive, as opposed to free
2.) Takes time to measure, score, snap, sand, assemble, glue.
So I guess I’ll try and use acrylic only when necessary — which this seems like one of those times. -
eBay the Monopoly
Argh, I just recieved an email from eBay. A Legitamate one, not one of those phishing expeditions.
This email was here by notifying me that Fees are to increase [yet again].
I ask myself why? Considering they’ve sent most, if not all, of their support staff to india. Service is intermittant, fraud is rampant.
How does one create a service that does the following?- Create an easy to use experience for sellers and buyers.
- Easy to search/navigate.
- Ability to hold transactions securely. For example payment.
- Monitoring of fraud and abuse.
- Not allowing PO Boxes.
- How does one certify buyers/sellers?
The need for a trusted selling / buying service is tremendous.
Fraud is always going to happen. fraudsters seemingly come up with creative new ways to fraud people.
I guess it’s time to just open my own eStore.
www.Howardforums.com isn’t a bad idea, considering if I can find a local guy, people can do a straight exchange.
It’s free. But it’s a pain in the butt to siphen through all the material listing.
Perhaps a listing of items to be sold, in a searchable / organized manor would be a better way. And will the members accept such a way? -
New Gallery!
Well, I installed Coppermind Photo Gallery 1.3.2 and psnGallery2 1.3.2 with a little hack to make it so psngallery2 won’t randomize the images on display.
Took a little while to install… see previous link blog entry to see the new gallery in action.

Stupid USPS and Canadapost
Wow!
Shipping items with a customs sticker is surefire way to delay packages to be sent to a buyer.
Holy crap is there a delay.
Items without a customs sticker usually arrive within 1-2 weeks. As quick as 3 days.
But damn… this is getting rediculus, as one package took 3.5 weeks to get to the destination.
I also screwed up with one package, writing the wrong address, and it being shipped back to me. I felt like an idiot on that one, so I offered the buyer her shipping fees back, or a complete refund if she so desired. She choose neither, and just wanted the item.
What’s happening with the postal system? It’s falling apart. No wonder FedEX, UPS and the like have gained so much ground in the past years.
